We’ve established that I enjoy writing fantasy. So what are some of the projects I’m working on?

Chio Pino: A Reverse Retelling of Pinocchio (Novelette/Dark Fairytale)

This is a dark retelling of Pinocchio in reverse. Instead of being about a puppet that turns into a real boy, it’s about a girl who turns into a puppet.

This story pays tribute not only to the original Carlo Collodi story, but contains many nods to the extended version, the Russian play, and even the classic Disney film.

En Prise (Short Story/Fantasy)

The story of a man who gets a little too into his chess matches at the expense of his family.

The Fire Lizard and the Great Oak Tree (Flash Fiction/Fable)

A self-reflective fable that can tell you a lot about yourself, depending on your interpretation of the tale.

Five Rings (Novel/High Fantasy/Trilogy)

The first of a planned trilogy. The story of Cirellio, the “thief-who-is-not-a-thief”.

When the God of Fate tricks him into making the worst mistake of his life, he becomes the target of a centuries-old assassin. Now on the run, his only hope for survival lies in the hands of religious zealots and a rag-tag band of thieves.

All he wants is to set his life straight and make amends, but an old war rekindles, demons toy with humanity, and ancient beasts erupt from the earth.

To stand a chance, he may have to embrace the one thing he hates most: Magic.

Web of Hearts (Novel/High Fantasy/Trilogy)

Book 2 of the planned trilogy.

There are five rings.
     The first ring, the innermost ring, is destruction. It resides at the heart of everything.
     The second ring is the anima mundi, a prison for souls.
     The fourth is the ether, the collective unconscious.
     The fifth is the outermost ring, creation.
     And the third ring—our world—struggles between them.

The Never-Ending Night (Short Story/Dark Fantasy)

A guilt-stricken man cuts a deal with Death to enter the realm of eternal night. There, he wishes to rescue his deceased wife. But things rarely go as planned when you’re dealing with the grim reaper.

Loop (Novel/High Fantasy/stand-alone)

In a world where everyone has stopped aging, the widow of a slain war hero discovers the ugly truth that lay just beneath the surface of her utopian city. Armed with a forbidden magical power, she sets off to finish what her husband started.

Strange Skies (Novel/Mecha Fantasy/stand-alone)

A computer genius who runs a high-tech garbage facility has unearthed a series of ancient clues that leads him on a global treasure hunt. His prize? The coordinates to a sleeping god who somehow survived the purge. His discovery upsets the towering machine gods who police the Earth, forcing him and his son to fight for their lives.

The Machine (Novelette/Fantasy/Dark Fairytale)

A resourceful young girl finds herself in a strange new world with next to no memory of her past, a dark place run by Nyx, the Goddess of Night.

Before she can return home, she must survive the three ceremonies of protection to prove her worth to become the newest member of the tri-marked tribe.

But, as the world begins to decay around her, there’s a longing in her heart she can no longer deny, a desire that will lead her down a very different path and shatter her reality.
