A Deadline!

I hate self-imposed deadlines, even going as far as to list the reasons they don’t work for me.

But this time might be an exception.

On Friday, I heard my friends talking about how much fun they have each year at Gencon, all the writing panels they’ve attended, and all the interesting people they’ve met.

The plan is to finish my current story and be working on my next one by the time Gen Con rolls around. So I’ve decided to officially make the deadline on finalizing my current short story August 3rd.

The deadline may be self-imposed, but it’s a hard deadline, and what’s at stake is having one less story done before I get the chance to talk with other writers. It’s not much, I admit, but it’s something.

Also, I’m finally retrying my Nootropics experiment.

I’ll leave you with a nice quote that sums up nicely what I said in my MetaModern series of posts:

You cannot legislate the poor into freedom by legislating the wealthy out of freedom.

What one person receives without working for, another must work for without receiving. The government cannot give to anybody anything that the government does not first take from somebody else.

When half the people get the idea that they do not have to work because the other half is going to take care of them, and when the other half gets the idea that it does no good to work because somebody else is going to get what they work for, that, my dear friend, is the beginning of the end of any nation. You cannot multiply wealth by dividing it.
