The Fad of Pride

Though we’re in the early stages of a MetaModern age, there are signs that Pride is failing to gain a permanent foothold in the United States.

And that’s not for lack of trying. Many people in power warned that June 2023 was supposed to be THE YEAR rainbow flag symbolism would ramp up and dominate, pushing the envelope farther than ever before.

But the opposite happened. Many corporations that had been rainbow-flagging-it-up for years decided to leave their logo unchanged, and even companies in California with entire divisions dedicated to “DEI initiatives” had noticeably less virtue-signalling to bloviate than usual.

Corporations started realizing they’ve been coming off as self-righteous panderers, and nobody likes that–not even people partaking in alt-lifestyles. (Not to mention they’re starting to feel it in the pocketbooks.)

It’s strange how, during the lead-up, social media influencers felt the need to finger-wag, warn, and threaten over how huge June would supposedly be, as if it were a weapon to brandish and swing around. As if it somehow…scares people.

But it’s not strange at all once you realize they were proselytizing. Like I said, they’ve become a full-on religious cult and expect you to kneel before their altar… out of fear, if necessary.

But the cult leaders of the New Religion failed to ingrain these new virtues in the typical American by playing their hand too aggressively and too early; They couldn’t quite achieve the boiling frog effect they wanted on this one. All the proselytizers managed to do was create a temporary fad.

There’s signs everywhere people are getting get sick of constantly being reminded to “Be Kind to Everyone (subtext: no matter what their slice of the rainbow flag may be, even if it involves inappropriate behavior with children)”. And yeah, the constant in-your-face pandering was fatiguing, to say the least. It won’t be missed.

There’s only so much “loud and proud” society can take before eyerolls are earned (and warranted) for all the obvious attention-grabbing.

But most amusing of all, before this initiative, the average American born ~1980 or later didn’t mind what people did in the privacy of their own bedrooms so long as it didn’t encroach on their own lifestyle or how their kids were raised. Myself included.

But it did. And it does. And it takes a mile for every inch given. The leaders of this progressive movement went above and beyond to prove this movement can’t be trusted to keep their private business to themselves, and that they won’t hesitate to shoehorn these beliefs into everything they can, including early childhood learning centers.

Constant reminders of lifestyles most Americans aren’t interested in kept getting pushed and pushed until it got beyond annoying, so now the average American does care, and most of them care at least enough to vote with their wallets.

Remember, it only takes ~20% of the population to say no to something like this and it goes away. Often overnight.
